The number of different types of plants that exist in the world is simply staggering. When it comes to flowers, almost everyone is familiar with the more commonly seen species, such as roses, dandelions, and lilies. But what about the more unique flowers out there? Theres a wide range of different ones to explore some beautiful and exotic, and others quite the opposite.
Particular blossoms are most notable for the shape that theyre petals take. Take for example the grape hyacinth. Many people are familiar with the flowery stalks of the standard hyacinth plant. The grape hyacinth is quite different the common variety. Whereas the petals on most hyacinths spread outward, on a grape hyacinth they spread inward. These unique flowers end up looking like grapes on a stem since the petals fold in to form small circular shapes.
Another interesting variation on a fairly common flower is the bee orchid. While they share the same basic structure as your everyday orchid, bee orchids have a unique color pattern that resembles a female bee. The purpose of this is to attract male bees so that they will then pollinate other flowers. Bee orchids have a distinctive look you might not call it beautiful, but these flowers are certainly fascinating.
There are literally hundreds of other unique flowers out there, especially if you look at sources outside your immediate area. Some of the flowers that grow in the wilds of Africa or in rainforests will really blow your mind!
