Planting a flower garden can be tough and confusing work. Fortunately, there are few things more rewarding than a beautiful garden. However, if you want to try your hand at gardening, you need to understand some important concepts about flowers. For example, you need to understand the difference between annuals and perennials. You should also learn about the different types of annual flowers, as well as the various perennials.
An annual flower is one that only grows once before it dies off and must be replanted. Perennials, on the other hand, will last for several seasons before they need to be renewed. Keep in mind though that both types of plants dont last terribly long. While you dont have to replant perennials year to year, they still die quickly. In addition, perennials dont always bloom in the first year. You should pay attention to when each flower is intended to grow, as many types of annual flowers grow and die within just a few weeks. If you dont plan it carefully, your garden might be half-full of dead plants before others even start to grow.
There are some other variations on these broad categories. For instance, there are certain flowers called half hearty annuals. These plants are perennials that can be grown as annuals in harsher, colder climates. As you can see, there are a few different types of annual flowers and perennial flowers that need to be researched before you start planting.
